Robin Thicke sings of hard times and love lost on his new song, “Beautiful”

Robin Thicke has returned to bring us another sensational song from his highly-anticipated new album,On Earth, and in Heaven.

The track, “Beautiful,” brings out Thicke’s heart-melting falsetto mixed with dreamy flute melodies, hypnotic guitars, piano work, and the essence of Motown’s doo-wop sound.

“Sometimes life’s too much for me to take/ Sometimes my heart only wants to ache, sha-bop bop/ I look in your eyes / Your smile reminds me what love’s about,” sings Robin on the chorus.

In a statement, the Grammy-winning R&B singer attributed the song’s soulful sound to “taking all the pain and loss and heartache and turning it into something beautiful.”

On Earth, and in Heaven marks Thicke’s eighth studio album and will be released under a partnership between his label, Lucky Music and EMPIRE.  For this album, he dug deep into his feelings from the past five years, including the 2016 death of his father, actor Alan Thicke, and the destruction of his California home in the 2018 Woolsey fire. Then last year, Thicke lost his longtime mentor, creative partner and accomplished music executive Andre Harrell

“When I looked over my album notes, the phrase that kept coming to mind was On Earth, and in Heavenand I realized that’s what I’m singing about: the people who aren’t here and the people who are here that I love and made me who I am,” Thicke said. “This music is the sunshine coming out after the rain.”

On Earth, and in Heaven arrives Feb. 12th, featuring the previous singles “Forever Mine” and 2019’s “That’s What Love Can Do.
