Kiana Ledé shares excitement over her upcoming Hulu performance

Kiana Ledé says she’s “excited” for her upcoming performance at Hulu’s Your Attention Please: The Concert later this week, where she will pay homage to the women who were essential in turning Georgia blue during the 2020 presidential election.

“I’m just really excited to be a part of something that was celebrating my culture and who I am,” she tells ABC Audio. “Black History Month is American history, so I was excited to lend my talent and bring more life and more art to what Stacey Abrams and the other six women were doing in Georgia.”

Ledé says it felt “great” watching voting rights activist and Nobel Peace Prize nominee Abrams and other women make such an “empower[ing]” move.

“I feel like seeing people do the work makes me feel empowered and seeing Stacey lead the charge as a Black woman, also made me very empowered and made me feel like I can kind of take things into my own hands,” she says.

Lede says it also reminded her of the I’m a New Voter Education campaign on her Instagram, where she discussed the duties of the House of Representatives and Congress.

“That made me really happy that people were actually interested in learning about our government along with me and answering all of our own questions and really figuring out what our government does and why they work for us,” she says.

Kiana plans to bring this empowering feeling to Hulu’s concert, with a performance of her powerful KIKIballad, “Attention.”

Tune into Hulu’s Your Attention Please: The Concert, which airs Thursday, Feb. 18 at 8:00 p.m. ET.
