“Swervin” rapper A Boogie Wit Da Hoodie has been arrested in New Jersey on drug and weapons charges. The 26-year-old was arrested following an investigation of a nightclub shooting.
XXL reports that the Bergen Country Prosecutor’s Office took Boogie — real name Artist DuBose — and two other men connected to him into custody after executing a search warrant of his residence.
A search of DuBose’s home yielded four firearms, which the prosecutor’s office lists as, “a Ruger .380 handgun, a Glock .40 caliber handgun, an H&K 9mm handgun and a Smith and Wesson 9mm handgun.” All the guns were seized.
Investigators also uncovered “hollow point bullets, various high capacity magazines, marijuana, hashish oil edibles and drug paraphernalia.”
It is illegal to possess hollow point bullets in New Jersey and state law lists it as a fourth degree crime. Those guilty of possession face up to 18 months in state prison.
DuBose’s security guard, 33-year-old Quashaun Hagler, and manager, 27-year-old Samblou Camara, were also arrested.
Officials say Hagler, who was present when police searched DuBose’s home, was charged with three counts of unlawful possession of a handgun and one count of possession of a large capacity magazine, a 2nd degree and 4th degree crime, respectively.
Camara’s Bergenfield, New Jersey, house was also searched and investigators retrieved marijuana and hashish oil edibles. He was charged with possession of marijuana.
Teaneck, New Jersey’s Patch reports that the three men were taken into custody following a shooting outside of the RAIN nightclub. While it is unknown if DuBose was involved in the altercation, he was at the club at the time of the incident.
All three arrests were made without incident and, as of Tuesday, the men have been released on their own recognizance.
